Xojo 2014 Release 1 includes several IDE improvements to general performance, the Inspector, tabs and auto-complete.
Performance
By far, the most noticeable improvement is the performance. Xojo 2014 Release 1 is substantially faster than before. On my system, Xojo starts in less than 5 seconds. Even if you use a lot of plugins, you will see a noticeable improvement in launch time.
This performance improvement is felt throughout the IDE. You’ll notice that project loading, general navigation, displaying of project items and selecting controls are all quicker. In particular, editing web layouts with lots of Containers is much easier.
Tabs
Tabs are a great way to work with large projects, so we’ve improved the tab handling. First, the tabs are now variable-width to make it easier to read its name and perhaps save some space if you have short names. Also, when you have more tabs than can fit in the tab bar, an overflow button appears that allows you to swap the currently selected tab with one from the overflow list.
Inspector
In an effort to reduce scrolling, the Inspector has been refined a bit to move less commonly used properties to the “Advanced” tab. To switch to the Advanced tab, use the gear button in the Inspector.
Auto-Complete
The auto-complete feature will now auto-complete even more methods and properties than before.
