2020: A Year of Change

Despite the uncertainty, 2020 has been a terrific year for Xojo by nearly every measure. We will continue to plan and be hopeful for the future and we look forward to seeing you in person at XDC London in October 2021. Best wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy 2021.

Why building apps for macOS requires a Mac

Over the years, the list of technologies upon which Apple depends has grown longer. These technologies provide a great deal of benefit both to developers and end users. Fortunately, Apple provides, supports and maintains the tools required to use these technologies at no cost to developers. Unfortunately, Apple only provides tools that run on macOS.

Use Multiple CPU Cores with Worker

A Worker provides a way for you to have code that runs on multiple CPU cores. A Worker achieves this by running its code in a Console app. One or more of these console apps are started based on your Worker settings. Since these run as Console apps, the OS treats them as separate processes and spreads them out amongst available CPU cores.

New Graphics Enhancements in Xojo

Let’s talk about the new properties and methods added to the Graphics class that will make all your Paint drawings more flexible and powerful! The enhancements include: LineDash, LineCap, LineJoin, the new Brush property with LinearGradientBrush, RadialGradientBrush, ShadowBrush and PictureBrush, and the new PictureBrush class.
